Lucas Oil / TLD / Honda’s Christian Craig will miss much of the remaining supercross series to repair a broken wrist. The scaphoid bone (navicular) in his left wrist was fractured at the Southwick Motocross National and he had surgery to screw the broken bone. Unfortunately, the bone never healed properly and he will have to have it corrected.

Harley-Davidson Makes the Interbrand 100 for Another Year

Jan 24

Every year Interbrand releases a list of the Top 100 global brands – ranking each company on its brand value and then assigning a dollar amount to that value. As such over the years, the Interbrand 100 has become the de facto metric on the strength of a company’s brand. For some time Harley-Davidson has been a stalwart of the Interbrand 100, with the Bar & Shield brand regularly getting the nod from the consultancy’s specialists — …

RJ Says: 1985 LA Coliseum Supercross video – part 1

RJ Says: 1985 LA Coliseum Supercross video – part 1

Jan 24

Where supercross started – the fabled Los Angeles Coliseum in 1972. This video is from 1985 at the L. A. Coliseum Supercross.

This video is part 1 of 2. I wanted to get it up for you as quickly as possible. In this video, for better or worse, you’ll see a lot of me (I’m number 5 on a Yamaha). But in the second video that’s coming, you’ll see a lot more of my friends in the race like David Bailey, Bob Hannah, Jeff Ward, Goat Breker, Broc Glover, Ron Lechien, Johnny O’Mara, and others.

I think in 1985, we ran two ‘main events’ at each supercross. Part of what you see here (if my memory is correct) is me winning the first ‘main event’.

And stay tuned for the second video! Both videos have the fabled Peristyle uphill / downhill. And especially in the second video coming late next week, with guys like Jeff Ward, David Bailey, Bob Hannah, Broc Glover, Ron Lechien, Johnny O’Mara and myself – you’ll see riders with about 33 AMA Supercross and Motocross titles combined!

Hope you enjoy the videos …

#Honda #riders Rea and Aoyama get 2012 #superbike season underway at Phillip Island

Image

Honda riders Jonathan Rea and Hiroshi Aoyama have completed a three-day test at Phillip Island in Australia in preparation for the 2012 World Superbike championship, which opens at the same circuit on 26 February.

The Honda duo took advantage of warm, dry weather at the picturesque 4.5km circuit two hours south of Melbourne to test the 2012 version of the CBR1000RR Fireblade ? the 20th anniversary variant of Honda?s iconic sportsbike.

The team took a host of new chassis and suspension components to test in Australia and continued the development of its electronic ride-by-wire throttle system introduced in the second half of the 2011 World Superbike campaign.

Rea starts his fourth season on the Fireblade and, following an injury-blighted 2011, the 24-year-old Northern Irishman is looking forward to a consistent title challenge this year. For 2012 he is partnered by Japanese ace Hiroshi Aoyama, 30, the 2009 World 250cc champion, who joins the World Superbike team following two years as a Honda MotoGP rider.

While no lap times were released by the team, manager Ronald ten Kate declared himself very satisfied with the development of the new machine. The team will return to Phillip Island for a two-day official test on 20-21 February before the opening round of the 2012 championship.

Jonathan Rea

We?ve had a good three days, completed a lot of laps and tested a whole heap of new parts. We?ve also done quite a few long runs and race simulations which, to be honest, was really good ? for the simulation we did today, we even used the lights! The full race-run allows us to see exactly where we are, even though the disadvantage of testing on your own is that you?ve got no-one to measure yourself against. But the whole team is working really well and I?m really enjoying riding the bike again. Step-by-step we?re making things better and, although when you test this many parts you can end up going round in circles, I think we?ve got a bike with a good base setting to go into the 2012 season with.

Hiroshi Aoyama

I?ve really enjoyed the first test of the season on the new 2012 bike. I had some good feelings from the test in Qatar in December, but the feeling here at Phillip Island was quite different. We had to do a lot of work on the first two days but I learned a lot and on each day the feeling got better. We did a race simulation today and it was very interesting to experience the deterioration of the tyre. We need to make some more steps and, if we can do that, it?ll be an exciting race next month! For sure, I need to ride a lot more to try to learn the bike and the tyres because everything is still very new. I?m sure I will need a couple of races to get familiar with everything.

Ronald ten Kate ? team manager

We had high track temperatures here, which is something we struggled with during last year?s event, so it was a very useful test. The new chassis and suspension parts that we brought here were all working well and we were able to reconfirm some of the parts we tested before. The overall package as part of the 2012 Fireblade is definitely a step forward and the new fairing has improved stability. It was properly tested too, because there was a strong wind coming up the straight on the first day! With both riders, the bike has been able to give them a single fast lap time, but the race simulations we did today were also encouraging. We can pack up tonight with a good feeling and we still have another month to come up with some more ideas back at the workshop. But, honestly, we couldn?t have wished for more from this test.

News : MotoGP 2012, Yamaha MotoGP team threatened without a sponsor

News : MotoGP 2012, Yamaha MotoGP team threatened without a sponsor

Jan 21
Bad news came from the Yamaha factory team to the 2012 MotoGP season. Yamaha Factory Racing return loss their sponsors. After last year no longer supported FIAT, starting next season Yamaha no longer feel support of Petronas, which has supported them over the last 3 years.

Oil and gas company owned by Malaysian government has joined forces with Yamaha since 2009. In the duration of the contract, they undergo three racing season is fantastic. Both managed to win the world title in 2009 by Valentino Rossi and 2010 through Jorge Lorenzo.

Last year a slump season for Yamaha. After Rossi to Ducati, Yamaha also lost a major sponsor, FIAT. So, no-frills product name in the Yamaha factory team.

After not supported FIAT, Petronas had been the largest financial supporter for the Yamaha factory team. However, in a contract clause that says there’s no point Petronas entitled to replace the name FIAT Yamaha factory team.

Without a major sponsor outside manufacturer, Yamaha will have financial difficulties in wading competition next season. In the midst of financial crisis that has not been recovered in Japan and crises that are befalling Europe, the development of motor for one year will be borne by Yamaha.

The greater the difficulty will probably haunt at the end of the competition. Lorenzo and Ben Spies are now strengthening factory team will end contract at the end of season. Yamaha will be difficult to give an offer to bind the riders in the next season.

Nicky Hayden

People will now confused for the declaration of Ducati Team if trembled Nicky Hayden will continue his journey on Moto GP 2012. He was Injured in Jerez match were his tandem all alone to continue the journey of Ducati Malboro Team in World Championship. News all over the world that he fits the ride for 1000cc engine test, but the truth is..it is not!. Nicky Hayden did not make the Tormo Valencia Circuit test because of his fatal injury.

People will now confused for the declaration of Ducati Team if trembled Nicky Hayden will continue his journey on Moto GP 2012.

The team may have big disappointments if Nicky Hayden push him into his limits without the proper time to spin the 1000cc engine. Ducati management says that Nicky Hayden is in huge medical treatment to heal his injuries and absolutely dock in immediately in Moto GP next season. This decision Sucks! I hope that management let Nicky Hayden heal naturally, and give the best for Nicky’s Health. It is for the good and sake of Ducati Malboro Team. Mabuhay!

Moto GP Update

Franco Battaini

Following issues regarding Ducati Malboro Team, Franco Battaini spins 1000cc as a substitute for Nicky Hayden, Fraco lead the test with a brilliant 1:34.840 Fastest Lap end with 74 Laps in Test Tormo Valencia Circuit. This 39year old veteran is a big deal, in fact he has numbers of series match creating him a list in Moto GP 2012 line -up and that will be the biggest factor. Take note that this 39 yr old veteran with 15 yrs in experience with a weight of 67 Kg. Is considered as a huge factor. If you asking who replace Nicky only for this coming season Moto GP 2012 my bet will be Franco Battaini ?The Replacement?.

Tormo Valencia Circuit 1000cc

Valle..! Looks like were having tremendous line-up in Moto GP next season. Prior to 2 day Valencia test held at Tormo Valencia Circuit last November off-season 08-09, 2011. The actions are more intense due to its high displacements Moto GP requires a 1000cc Moto Engines in every single entry. Last GP engines displacement is 800cc and take a lot of intense speed and stumbling actions.

DC Moto TF Day with Ryan Morais

DC Moto TF Day with Ryan Morais

Jan 20

Ryan Morais’ goal for a 2010 West Coast Lites Supercross championship came to a screeching halt in just the 3rd round of the series, when another racer landed on the back on his bike, sending both riders crashing to the ground. This unfortunate crash would sideline Ryan for a few rounds, but he would eventually return to racing action in Seattle and finish the season 10th overall points. When the AMA Motocross Nationals came into around, Ryan was ready to get back to racing, but going into the second round he was once again out with an injury. Ryan has been busy the past few months, but is back and ready to set some new goals for the upcoming 2011 series. I spoke with Ryan about what he learned over the past year and his prospects for the new season.

Angela: Well Ryan, here we are just a few short weeks until the first Supercross race of the season; let’s talk about sponsors and the bike?

Ryan: Yeah, DC Shoes stepped up recently and is sponsoring the entire Rockstar Energy Suzuki Team, so I am really excited to be a part of it. I have only been with this sponsor for a few days now and they’re really taken care of the team. I’m with the same team as last year, Rockstar Energy Suzuki, with the same mechanic (Rene Zapata), and the same team manager, and owner, everything is pretty much the same, but Suzuki really is stepping up this year. Last year we were on a 2009 carburetor bike, so we were kind of behind the ball, but this year we are on the new 2011 fuel injected, the whole new chassis and everything, and Suzuki has really helped us out with factory support. Our bikes are pretty much in house bikes, running Shoei Suspension, so everything is looking great. Everyone has been doing a great job and the people at Yoshimura have been doing a lot of testing and getting our bikes dialed in, so I’m excited for Anaheim 1. Our bike should be one of the best ones out there, making things really competitive, and that is very cool.
